Overview:

Bank of Africa-Uganda's new campaign offers instant account opening & comprehensive digital services via the BOA Wallet app, empowering Ugandans nationwide.

KAMPALA, Uganda — Bank of Africa-Uganda (BOAUG) announced Thursday the launch of its “Appsolutely Eassy” campaign, introducing a fully remote account opening process through the BOA Wallet App. The initiative aims to provide Ugandans with access to financial services directly from their mobile phones, eliminating the need for branch visits.

The campaign targets young people, first-time banking customers and existing account holders, capitalizing on Uganda’s increasing smartphone adoption. A 2024 GSMA Mobile Economy Sub-Saharan Africa report projects smartphone usage in Uganda to exceed 80% by 2025.

“With the BOA Wallet, we are removing traditional barriers to financial inclusion,” said Arthur Isiko, managing director of Bank of Africa-Uganda. “Now, anyone can open a fully functional bank account in minutes, right from their mobile phone — no paperwork, no queues, no delays. This innovation is part of our broader strategy to make banking truly accessible to everyone, especially the younger, digitally driven generation.”

Beyond instant account opening, the BOA Wallet offers a comprehensive suite of digital services, including BOA Pay for digital payments, bill payment options for utilities and airtime, and interest-earning savings accounts. The app is designed with security in mind, providing real-time transaction alerts and an intuitive interface.

Bank of Africa-Uganda, regulated by the Central Bank of Uganda, operates 32 branches, 33 ATMs and more than 750 bank agents nationwide. It is a subsidiary of Bank of Africa BMCE Group, which operates in 31 countries, including 18 in Africa.
