Vivo Energy Uganda's suppliers conference in Kampala showcased network expansion, standardized stores, and a focus on customer experience, driving growth for Shell Select partners.

Vivo Energy Uganda has outlined its recent growth and future prospects for its network of Shell Select and Shop suppliers at its third annual conference.

The event, held in the capital, Kampala, brought together key partners to discuss the company’s performance since the Covid-19 pandemic and the opportunities arising from its ongoing development.

The company highlighted several key initiatives driving its expansion, including increasing the number of Shell Select locations, standardising the look and feel of its shops, prioritising the customer experience, and making greater use of data in its decision-making processes.

Vivo Energy Uganda said these changes had already delivered increased value for its suppliers, strengthening its position in Uganda’s energy and convenience retail market.

Speaking at the conference, Vivo Energy’s Chief Commercial Officer, Alinafe Mkavea, emphasised the benefits of the expanding network.

“The growth of our network offers significant opportunities for all of us,” she said. “More sites mean greater business potential, increased incomes, and a wider market reach.” Ms Mkavea also highlighted the company’s focus on automation to improve efficiency in stock management, transactions, and overall service.

The company is also investing in upgrading existing stores and converting dealer-owned sites into fully branded Shell Select outlets.

“This will ensure a consistent level of quality and customer experience across all our locations,” Ms Mkavea added. Plans are also in place to expand Vivo Energy’s Convenience Retail Coaches programme to maintain high standards in areas such as compliance and visual merchandising.

Joanita Menya Mukasa, the Managing Director of Vivo Energy Uganda, expressed her appreciation to the company’s suppliers. “Your dedication and partnership have been crucial to the continued success of Shell Select,” she said.

Ms Mukasa noted that Vivo Energy’s year-on-year growth had remained consistent, attributing this to the strong collaboration between the company and its suppliers.

“We are proud of our consistent performance and resilience,” she added. “Our vision at Vivo Energy is to be Africa’s leading and most respected energy business. This ambition extends beyond fuel to the growth of our convenience retail business, making our Shell Select stores the preferred choice for shoppers.”

Vivo Energy Uganda outlined its strategic priorities, which include further expanding its network, diversifying its retail offerings, and ensuring a uniform retail experience across all Shell service stations in the country. The company reiterated its commitment to driving innovation and supporting its suppliers in growing their revenues within the Shell Select and Shop network.
