Uganda and Ethiopia strengthen bilateral ties with signing of key agreements, including Air Services Agreement, Energy and Trade Cooperation deals, set to boost economic cooperation and regional integration.

Uganda and Ethiopia have signed a raft of cooperation deals aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations. The agreements include an Air Services Agreement, energy and trade cooperation deals.

The Ugandan delegation, led by Foreign Affairs Minister General Odongo Jeje Abubakhar, comprised ministers from trade, transport, agriculture, and internal affairs. Their Ethiopian counterparts, led by Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Gedion Timothewos, included ministers from trade, regional integration, and other sectoral ministries.

The signing of the agreements marks a significant step forward in bolstering economic ties between Uganda and Ethiopia. The Air Services Agreement is expected to facilitate increased air travel and trade between the two nations.

The energy cooperation deal will enable the sharing of expertise and resources in the energy sector. The trade cooperation agreement aims to promote bilateral trade and investment by reducing barriers and increasing cooperation between the two countries.

Other areas of cooperation include agreements on industrial cooperation, water resource management, technical cooperation in agriculture, animal industry, and fisheries. The two nations also signed agreements on cooperation in aviation training and cooperation and assistance in aircraft accident and incident investigation.
