URA officials have joined other African leaders at the annual African Tax Administration Forum (ATA) which commenced on December 2, at the Kigali Convention Centre in Rwanda.

Running until December 6, the week-long event brings together tax administrators, policymakers, and key stakeholders under the theme: ‘Preparing for the Future: Revenue Administration in a Dynamic Global Landscape.’

This year’s discussions will delve into critical issues shaping the tax ecosystem, including leveraging digital technologies to enhance tax collection, strengthening data analytics to combat evasion, and fostering international cooperation to address cross-border tax challenges. These topics align with the overarching goal of promoting economic independence and sustainable development through robust domestic revenue mobilization.

Representing URA at this forum is a delegation led by Commissioner Information Technology and Innovation (CITI), Robert Mutebi.

The ATAF Annual Meetings provide a platform for members to exchange ideas, experiences, and innovations that drive the modernization of tax administration.

Mutebi said URA’s participation reinforces their commitment to adopting global best practices and leading the charge for transformative tax policies in Uganda.

“As our delegation engages in these discussions, the insights gained will contribute to shaping policies that enhance governance, boost revenue collection efficiency, and solidify Uganda’s position in the continental tax landscape,” he said.
