Uganda hosts 3rd National ICT Job Fair, bridging skills gap in workforce, focusing on emerging trends, career paths, and digital economy skills.

Kampala, Uganda – The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance is set to host the 3rd National ICT Job Fair, a flagship event connecting young professionals, students, and job seekers with leading employers and industry experts.

Scheduled for November 21-22 at the National ICT Innovation Hub, the fair aims to bridge the skills gap in Uganda’s workforce, focusing on emerging trends, career paths, and essential skills for success in the digital economy.

“Shaping Uganda’s Digital Future: Bridging Skills, Innovation, and Opportunity” is this year’s theme, with workshops, career panels, networking opportunities, and interactive labs addressing the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Huawei Technologies Uganda’s ongoing partnership has been instrumental in the event’s success, providing company booths, resume reviews, and professional development talks.

Uganda’s ICT sector contributes 9% to GDP, employing 2.3 million people, according to the Digital Transformation Roadmap. The sector’s 14.8% growth rate underscores its pivotal role in the country’s economic development.

“Digital skills drive economic growth, create jobs, enhance education, and improve access to essential services,” said Dr. Aminah Zawedde, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of ICT and National Guidance.

Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, Minister for ICT and National Guidance, emphasized the sector’s role in bridging the unemployment gap: “Investments in ICT infrastructure and initiatives have propelled this sector forward.”

The two-day event will feature career panels with industry leaders, practical workshops on interview strategies, personal branding, and ICT career pathways, mock interviews and resume reviews, networking sessions with top employers and experts, and interactive labs and demonstrations.

This initiative empowers Uganda’s youth with skills, resources, and connections for success in the digital economy.

The annual event bridges the skills gap in Uganda’s workforce, fostering career growth, skill development, and employment opportunities in the ICT sector.
