KAMPALA, UGANDA – Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) has unveiled its 2024 top 10 finalists, with Uganda’s Maxima Nsimenta, Co-founder and CEO of LIVARA, among the exceptional entrepreneurs selected.

Nsimenta, a renowned Ugandan fashion designer and entrepreneur, founded LIVARA, a Kampala-based fashion and lifestyle brand renowned for its stunning African-inspired designs and commitment to empowering local communities.

LIVARA has gained international recognition for its unique blend of traditional and modern styles, showcasing African culture and creativity globally. Under Nsimenta’s leadership, LIVARA has created employment opportunities for numerous Ugandan artisans and supported local economic growth.

Nsimenta joins finalists from Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, chosen from over 20,000 applications across 54 African countries.

The ABH Prize Competition, supported by the Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Philanthropy, aims to identify and support African entrepreneurs driving sustainable economic growth and social impact.

“We continue to see inspiring examples of innovation and resilience among the ABH finalists,” said Zahra Baitie-Boateng, Managing Director, Africa at ABH.

The finalists will compete for a share of the US$1.5 million prize at the Grand Finale, set to take place from December 3-5, 2024, in Kigali, Rwanda. The event will bring together leading investors, business leaders, and innovators from across Africa.

The Grand Finale will feature keynote speeches, workshops, an entrepreneurial showcase, and a live pitch competition. Registration for the event is now open.

This year’s finalists are Tisya Mukuna from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Hadeel Fayek, Mina Shahid, and Dr. Rasha Rady from Egypt, Clement Owusu-Donkor from Ghana, Alexander Odhiambo from Kenya, Dr. Salma Bougarrani from Morocco, Mobolaji Ajayi from Nigeria, Henri Ousmane Gueye from Senegal, and Uganda’s Maxima Nsimenta.

ABH is Africa’s leading philanthropic initiative supporting entrepreneurs. Since its launch, ABH has received over 60,000 applications from entrepreneurs across Africa.
