Mr Ggoobi said his ministryis committed to supporting Missions Abroad to build the capacity of their staff to deliver, in addition to revamping their infrastructure.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Mr Ramathan Ggoobi, has urged ambassadors and heads of missions currently attending their annual retreat at the Civil Service College in Jinja to innovatively play their role in line with the 10-fold growth strategy by branding and marketing Uganda to potential tourists, and attracting more investors.

Mr Ggoobi said his ministryis committed to supporting Missions Abroad to build the capacity of their staff to deliver, in addition to revamping their infrastructure.

He however cautioned them to ensure proper planning, budgeting, execution and accountability.

The week-long retreat is happening under the theme: Strengthening Governance and Performance of the Foreign Service for National Development.

He told the Ambassadors that Uganda’s GDP growth has recovered from the various shocks,crises and false alarms reaching 6% in FY 2023/24 from 3% in FY 2019/20.

He said this recovery is on account of good macroeconomic management, relative good weather and improving global economic conditions.

The PSST noted that growth has been broad-based with all the sectors growing: Services by 6.6%, Industry by 5.8% and agriculture by 5.1% in FY 2023/24.

He said on the current path, growth is projected at 6.4% this FY & at least 7% over the medium term, adding that GDP growth under the 10-fold growth strategy, including oil & gas production is expected to surpass 10% in the initial years.
