The Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) has inaugurated its regional offices in Mbarara City, aiming to enhance the competitiveness of the region’s private sector.

The office will serve districts in Ankole, Kigezi, Rwenzori, Bunyoro, and Tooro, providing a range of services to support business growth and development.

Daniel Kazibwe, representing the PSFU Board Chairperson, emphasized the office’s role in boosting association groups, opening up more opportunities for traders, and fostering collaboration between businesses, government, and civil society.

Stephen Asiimwe, CEO of PSFU, highlighted the region’s potential in agriculture, tourism, and cultural arts, and pledged to provide national and international platforms for promotion, capacity building, and advocacy.

Asiimwe announced plans to open more offices nationwide, leveraging Mbarara City’s strategic location as a regional hub for economic transformation.

Mbarara City Mayor Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi urged PSFU to intensify advocacy and marketing efforts for the region’s opportunities, while Sezi Mwijuka, chairman of the Mbarara City Traders Association, requested PSFU to educate traders on mindset change, technology adoption, and advocacy for reduced taxes.

Fred Kimbareeba, Coordinator of Small Scale Industries in the Western region, appreciated the PSFU’s role in educating traders about the benefits of forming associations and registering companies.

This launch is expected to boost economic growth, private sector development, and job creation in the region.
