Dr Chris Ndatira Mukiza has been reappointed the Executive Director of Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) for another five-year team.
The reappointment of Dr Mukiza, who has served as UBOS boss since 2019, was announced by the government agency responsible for statistical data on Tuesday.
“The Board, Management and Staff of Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) congratulate the Executive Director Chris Ndatira Mukiza (PhD) upon his well-deserved reappointment for another 5 years as the Executive Director of Uganda Bureau of Statistics which appointment keeps him as the Chief Statistician of the Country,” UBOS said in a statement.
“This reappointment is a testament of faith, confidence, and support that H.E. Gen.Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda, Hon. Matia Kasaija, the Minister of Finance Planning and Economic Development and the Board of Uganda Bureau of Statistics have bestowed upon you. This further showcases your exemplary, visionary, and transformational leadership that has produced remarkable accomplishments for the Bureau during the past 5 year term. We are confident that the next 5 years of your leadership will place the Bureau to the standard of a World Class National Statistics Office. We pledge to give you maximum support to fulfil the mandate, vision, and mission of UBOS,” they added.
His reappointment comes as UBOS is set to organise and conduct the National Population and Housing Census in May 2024.
Dr. Mukiza has worked with a number of institutions such as the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development in 1992, where he served as a Statistician for a period of one year. He later joined Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) from 1997 -2000. Dr.Mukiza has served the bureau for the past 19 years having joined UBOS in 2000. He held various positions within UBOS with the most recent being the Director for Macro-Economic Statistics where he had served for a period of 10 years.
He replaced Ben Mungyereza at UBOS in 2019 after the latter retired.
