Uganda’s hosting of the 10th EAPCE is coming at the opportune time especially when the country has just achieved the Final Investment Decision(FID) for the upstream and East African Crude Oil Pipe projects,  and is also concluding the second licensing round and undertaking studies to open up new areas for petroleum exploration.

Ugandans have been urged to tap from the benefits of the 10th East African Petroleum Conference and Exhibition (EAPCE), which will be hosted by Uganda from May 9 to 11 this year.

Speaking at the media centre in Kampala on Thursday, 19 January 2023, Godfrey Kabbyanga, the Minister of State for Information, Communication Technology and National Guidance, said Uganda’s hosting of the 10th EAPCE is coming at the opportune time especially when the country has just achieved the Final Investment Decision(FID) for the upstream and East African Crude Oil Pipe projects,  and is also concluding the second licensing round and undertaking studies to open up new areas for petroleum exploration.

“It is therefore anticipated that the conference will be very attractive and enormous benefits will be harnessed for the country,” he said.

“As you are aware, Uganda continues to attract both local and foreign Investors to be partners in the sustainable exploration of our Oil and Gas deposits. Therefore, through this conference, the government will showcase the EAC as a hotspot for hydrocarbon discoveries,” he added.

The theme of the conference is “East Africa as a Hub for Investment in Exploration and Exploitation of Petroleum Resources for Sustainable Energy & Socio Economic Development.”
