This curriculum forms part of URA’s tax education program in schools where over 2500 teachers have been trained and 80,000 manuals distributed since 2020.

Uganda Revenue Authority is developing a Business and Technical Vocational Education Training (BTVET) tax curriculum for vocational students and their tutors, Ag. Manager Tax Education Michael Masembe has revealed.

Masembe made this revelation while speaking at an engagement between the Companionship of Works Association (COWA) and URA.

He explained that URA has embarked on a tax education campaign to reach out to all taxpayers and advised the association members to always seek help for tax challenges instead of harboring them to grow.

Jackson Wambuga a finance consultant at COWA appreciated the initiative and also requested for trainings in URA systems like filing returns and support in closing pending assessments and penalties to enable them improve their compliance.

The trained teachers are expected to pass on the information to students with the hope of making them voluntarily tax compliant in future.
