The Prime Minister who represented President Yoweri Museveni applauded the French government for the good partnership hence calling on potential investors to inject money into Uganda’s key sectors like commercial farming and value addition.

Prime MinisterRobinah Nabbanja has called on French business leaders and companies to continue taking advantage of the existing investment opportunities available in Uganda.

The Prime Minister made the statement during the Bastille Day celebrations at the French Ambassador’s residence at Nakasero on Thursday.

“From days back in 1962 when we acquired independence, France has been on the forefront of ensuring that we develop as a country. Uganda and France continue to enjoy cordial relations, for instance, when we were hit by COVID-19, France was among the first countries to support us with drugs and other equipment.

When we embarked on developing the oil and gas sector, Total Energies a French company signed a memorable contract worth $10 billion to boost oil production,” Nabbanja noted.

She added that this will not only increase trade between the two countries but also address the current trade deficit.

“We would like to increase the volume and value of Ugandan exports to France and European countries. Our oil, meat, vegetables, fruits, fish, tea and coffee are all abundant for the French to enjoy. We request you to open your markets, remove any trade barriers and ensure your people enjoy the best foods from Uganda, the Pearl of Africa.” Nabbanja added.

The Ambassador of France to Uganda H.E Jules Aniambossou committed support to Ugandan entrepreneurs.
