Barbara Kasekende has been appointed Manager Business Directory at Uganda Development Bank (UDB).

Kasekende joins UDB from Stanbic Bank Uganda where she has been the Corporate Social Investments Manager.

“Barbara joins the Bank with over 10 years of experience in management of various projects including youth and women empowerment, SME and start-up growth, CSR, customer and partner relations, marketing and public relations. She has worked in various corporate positions with leading multinational brands in the United States and Uganda,” UDB said in a statement on Friday, 18 February 2022.

At UDB, Kasekende will oversee implementation of the Bank’s Business Advisory Department which provides technical support to customers and prospects pertaining to management best practices, good governance, record keeping, financial management among others.

Ms Kasekende has an MBA in international management from the University of Texas in Dallas.

Early this week, Stanbic Bank held a farewell party for Kasekende that was attended by senior and lower level staff, including the Managing Director, Ms Anne Juuko.

“Stanbic Bank has been a pillar in my life since 2014 till today… It has become family. We have changed so many lives over the years both internally and externally. We have cried laughed played and created unbreakable bonds,” she tweeted.

“I was blessed to work for an employer that allowed me to follow my dreams and execute them. That is something that doesn’t happen often.  Anne Juuko an d Patrick Mweheire thank you for believing in me and allowing me to thrive! There have been lessons learned that I will take to the next phase in my life. It has been an honour working with Stanbic Bank Uganda and our bond will only grow stronger,” she added.

In her new job at UDB, Kasekende said “ I am a true believer of living your truth and purpose. My journey with youth and women empowerment through transformational growth steers me in a new direction… I now have a chance to make a much BIGGER impact in the SME sector. I cannot wait to walk this journey with you! Let’s change the status quo and inspire development in Uganda together!”
