The major roads leading in and out of Kampala are experiencing thick traffic jam as several people try to leave the city after two bomb blasts on Tuesday, 16 November 2021.

At different taxi stages such as City Square and Mapeera Building, thousands of people could be seen boarding vehicles to leave the city by 11am.

As a result, on Jinja Road, Wandegeya traffic lights, Mulago roundabout, Spear Motors in Nakawa, Entebbe road and Nakulabye, several vehicles were seen stuck in traffic jam.

Shopping arcades along Luwum Street, Wilson Road and Dastur Street have also sealed off with police sniffer dogs at the scene.

Also, crowds near Old Taxi Park have been dispersed by police while security personnel have deployed at all buildings that house commercial banks.

Mabirizi Plaza, which is near the Central Police Station, where one of the explosions happened, has also been closed off, with people ordered out of the building.

Burton Street and Johnson Street have also been blocked for both cars and people.

The bomb blasts occurred at the entrance of Central Police Station (CPS) Kampala while another one was at Parliamentary Avenue, with the Inspectorate of Government offices on Jubilee Insurance Building the most affected.
