The Government of Uganda has announced that all foreign nationals intending to travel to Uganda must apply for visas online.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, sny person intending to travel to Uganda must apply via www.visas.immigration.go.ug.
The applicant have a Travel Authorization/Visa Approval Letter before embarking on their travel to Uganda as there are no visas issued on arrival.
To apply for a Ugandan Visa online, one must log onto www.visas.immigration.go.ug ,start a new application and accept the disclaimer.
The applicant can choose the; Application type (Visa), Category (Ordinary, Multiple-Entry, Diplomatic and Official, Transit, East Africa Tourist Visa) and Subcategory (single-entry, multiple-entry for 6-12 months, 12-24 months or 24-36 months).
Then they must fill the electronic form (Personal details of applicant).
They are also supposed to add required documents depending on the category and reason for travel (Copy of recent passport size photograph, Copy of passport bio-data page, Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate, Recommendation letter, Police clearance, Invitation Letter etc.)
After this, the applicant is supposed to submit the application and proceed to make payment for the visa applied for using either a MasterCard or Visa Card.
Once the application is submitted and paid for, it will be studied by an Immigration Officer upon which a decision will be made within 2-3 days.
“If approved, an email with the Travel Authorization/Approval letter will be sent to the Applicant who then proceeds to download it, print it and embark on their travel. Please note that during the approval process additional information may be required,” the ministry says.
“You can track the status of your application by using the manage your application provision on the same portal. All applicants are advised to submit their visa applications at least ten days before their intended date of travel,” it adds.
On top of the standing COVID 19 SOPs for travellers to Uganda, nationals from visa fee exempt countries, are required to have an invitation or conference letter, valid passport for at least six months, yellow fever vaccination which they will present at the point of entry where the border control officers will allow entry.
